From farmer to beer crowdfunding

We are on an important mission..

With Nevel, we are on an important mission: reconnecting people with nature and with the source from which all our food and drink comes. We are on the right track, but we need your help to keep doing so. That is why we present our From Farmer to Beer Crowdfunding.

WHAT DO WE ASK AND WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?
We ask you to make a one-time donation of €99. But you will also get something in return.

In 2023 you will receive 3 large bottles (75cl) of Nevel beer, one of which is an exclusive single barrel beer made with ingredients from the farmers and growers you donated to. The crowdfunded beer still needs to be brewed and is expected to be ready by mid-2023. We will also organise a special day where you will be invited as a crowdfunder and get to know everything about our way of working, our farmers, growers and suppliers. But above all: you contribute to our mission to restore the connection between man and nature through our beers and therefore our way of doing business. Help us to be an example for others and join us! Click here.

"People are not above nature, but part of it".

— RE-GENERATION

OUR STORY
About 6 years ago we started our adventure. We wanted to create something that didn’t exist in the Netherlands yet, something original and self-willed, uninhibited and pure, with the intention of showing how versatile wild beer can be and how you can make an fantastic product by working together with nature.

Food and drink in the Western world is mainly characterised by consumption, with no awareness of the origin of ingredients, no knowledge of the ecological footprint of production and no genuine interest in the implications. We want to break through this ‘unconsciousness’ by going public with our own unique story.

With our beers, we try to make people understand that life on Earth is one big ecosystem in which everything interacts and depends on each other. We humans are not above nature, we are part of it. The beers we make are directly inspired by nature, with smells and tastes that you can actually find there. We only use ingredients that come directly from local farmers and growers who work in a way that promotes biodiversity and is nature-inclusive.

These two core principles serve a purpose: to reconnect people with nature. It is the connection we have lost. It is our conviction that as humans, we must learn once again to look holistically at all aspects of the system, with each part of the system living in harmony with the whole.

TRUE PRICING PRINCIPLE
As a brewery, we have always argued for the fairest possible price for our beer. We always try to communicate openly about this. In order to achieve a fair price, we as a brewery apply the ‘true pricing’ principle. Or as the organisation itself puts it so nicely: “A true price is the market price plus the social and environmental costs of a product”. This means that we buy as locally as possible to reduce C02 emissions, but also that our suppliers, farmers, etc. receive the fairest possible price for their sustainable products and/or services.

We also want to harm nature as little as possible by brewing with the seasons and not harvesting more than necessary. As a result, our beer is relatively more expensive than most other beers. You pay not only for the beer, but also for the social and environmental costs. Of course, there are many areas in which our brewery can still make progress, but we do our best to apply the ‘true pricing’ principle in as many areas as possible.

We want to set an example and show that doing business in this way is possible. But to be able to do this, we need your help, because working with local farmers and growers means that we have to finance the planting and harvesting in advance every year. Finances that our microbrewery does not have directly.

GRAIN HARVEST FESTIVAL AND LAUNCH FROM FARMER TO BEER CROWDFUNDING
An important part of our crowdfunding is the Grain Harvest Festival. It is our harvest festival that we organise every year to show people that it can also be done in a sustainable way. Brewing beer locally is, as said before, quite a task. Ingredients like malt and hops often come from all over the world. We would like to see this differently and that is why Nevel has joined forces with, among others, farmer Hans Lamers and Gordons Spoor. Without unnecessary (intermediary) parties, directly from farmer to brewer, both grow unsprayed barley for brewing in Gelderland, with attention for nature. And they do so entirely organically as well!

This year our Graanoogstfeest is extra special, because on this day we also officially launch our crowdfunding. We organise the Graanoogstfeest on Sunday,  September 11. Of course you can enjoy plenty of Nevel beer. We will also invite some friends who will provide you with the necessary snacks. Keep an eye on our socials and website for more updates.

Help us and thus our farmers, growers and ultimately nature.

Who are our growers, farmers and processors?
